If you get exposed to salmonella, you will develop symptoms in 24 to 48 hours. You’ll feel generally lousy; you may get a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain. If you’re young, elderly, immune compromised, it can be a lot more serious. There’s risk of dehydration, risk of salmonella getting into the bloodstream and obviously as we’ve seen by this outbreak, leading to very serious illness or death.
